Ford F-Series Door Latch Class Action Settlement

$5.3 million court-approved nationwide class action settlement resolving Ford F-Series door latch claims.

Lead Counsel Jeffrey I. Carton and co-counsel Robert J. Berg of Denlea & Carton LLP served as court-appointed class counsel for Brandon Kommer and a nationwide settlement class in litigation against Ford Motor Company. The action alleged that door latches and locks on certain Ford F-Series trucks could fail in freezing temperatures and that Ford failed to disclose the condition to consumers. The Second Amended Complaint asserted claims under New York General Business Law §§ 349 and 350 and analogous consumer-protection laws. On December 15, 2020, U.S. District Judge Lawrence E. Kahn of the Northern District of New York approved a $5.3 million settlement fund covering class-member benefits, attorneys’ fees and expenses, administration, and a class representative service award, and dismissed the action with prejudice.
